What to Include
A well-scoped email saves both of us a round trip. Three sentences is often enough. A useful email tells me:
- Who you are and how you found this wiki.
- What you want to build — or what you're running that needs help.
- Your timeline and a rough budget range (if relevant).
- The problem behind the ask. Often the project changes once it's clear what's actually needed.
If any of these are unclear, send the email anyway. We'll figure it out.
What I Take On
- Founding / co-founding — ventures that need someone to actually build them
- Fractional operating roles — growth, operations, scaling a team that's starting to ship
- Construction & remodels — framing, finish carpentry, additions, solar installs
- Software builds — web apps, automations, internal systems, end-to-end
- Advisory — for builder / trades businesses that want to scale without losing the craft
What I Don't
- Projects that start with "it's just a quick thing"
- Lowest-bid contract work
- Anything that requires Comic Sans
- Work I couldn't later be proud of
Response Time
I read every email. I reply to every serious one, usually within 48 hours. If you haven't heard back in a week, it's not you — send a second email. The first one is probably wedged between a PR and a joist.
