Q: Why can't I edit the wiki? Isn't that the whole point of a wiki?

The purpose of a wiki is to contain correct information. The articles on BurbridgeBuilds are already correct. Allowing edits would introduce a non-zero risk of incorrectness. We have decided not to take that risk.

Q: What if I spot a genuine error?

There are no genuine errors. If you believe you have found one, you are mistaken. Please re-read the article carefully. If you still believe there is an error after a second reading, we suggest a third.

Q: What if I want to contribute?

Your contribution is the act of reading carefully. That is sufficient. If you feel compelled to do more, please see our Donate page for ways that your contribution will be politely declined.

Q: How do I apply to become an editor?

You do not apply. Editing privileges are assigned retroactively, according to criteria established by the Council of Builds and never published. If you are ever granted editing privileges, you will know. You will also be slightly disappointed, because the work is more tedious than you think.

Q: This feels elitist.

It is. We acknowledge this. However, we also point out that most wikis allow anyone to edit, and the results speak for themselves. We have simply chosen a different failure mode.

Q: How can I be sure the content here is accurate?

You cannot. You can, however, be sure that it is consistent. Consistency is a reasonable proxy for accuracy, according to some schools of thought.
